Right from the first frame it is gripping . I went through all the episodes, am m … seasons & felt the loss. Netflix cancelling the season 4 is our loss as viewers.
But the characters do remain with you. Amybeth McNulty as Anne is a gem. Her outbursts & her smile , her walk I loved every bit of her. She blended herself, emersed so much, made us believe she is ‘Anne’!
Geraldine James as Marilla is a wonder. Her acting is … superb. May I say the series was/ is so popular because of the casting. The actors have been chosen with such care. She is as conservative as they come. But when Anne enters her life like a fresh breeze she starts changing.
Dalila Bela as Diana Barry is Anne’s best friend. Her raven black hair that Anne cherishes & loves make her a beauty. Actually every member is the Barry household looks like a family. And Diana loves Anne for her talent & intellect. To face any situation without fear.
Lucas Jade Zumann as Gilbert. He is a versatile actor. His silences & looks speak volumes. After he loses his father he becomes mature & introverted. Thinking of becoming a doctor to help people. He meets Winfred & decides to marry her. But then his heart always has been with Anne.
Aymeric Jett Montaz as Jerry. He has a tiny role. As a farm hand he is close to Anne but becomes closer to Diana. But she brings their relationship to an abrupt end. She is world apart & knows she cannot continue. It ‘s sweet till it lasts.
R H Thomson as Mattew. He is the best character. I loved him when Anne announces , I am in love with Gilbert. I have to go’ He helps her with the saddle to ride the horse !!! A man who never married, he adapts so well when a young girl enters his life.
Dalmar Abuzeid as Sebastian. Gilbert’s best friend. His story as a sub plot is blended so well. His marriage to Mary, his daughter & then Mary’s death take place so fast. He has all the expressions you would expect. His story is not complete. Does he marry again? Does he raise his daughter single handedly ??
The series is too good. A gem.
