It is an Indian Hindi language legal thriller film. Directed & produced by Siddharth P. Malhotra. Starring Sunny Deol, Akshaye Khanna, Dia Mirza & Tillotama Shome.
The film follows a celebrated, incorruptible lawyer who faces a moral dilemma, when he is forced to defend a degenerate accused of murder in order to save his daughter.
Released on 10 July 2026. It received mixed reviews. The film debuted # 1 on Netflix.
It marks Sunny Deol & Akshaye Khanna ‘s reunion on screen after ‘Border’ 1997. Both excel in their work. I have often seen actors in negative roles earlier in their career. Right from the great Amitabh Bachchan !
Akshaye Khanna is making waves with his role choice & scripts he keeps accepting. Be ‘Taal’ or ‘ Hulchaal’ he was the lead with a heart he wore on his sleeve. But with ‘Dhurandhar’ he changed his track & uses his face & eyes more than before.
His chiselled features & sunken cheeks look scary. He merely has to glance & we know his character. Sleasy. His attitude, he can get away with anything, murder? sure. Announcing aloud, ‘I am innocent!’
What I loved about it is the murder takes place in the first few scenes. The courtroom drama follows. They have not wasted time in getting the lady killed. Then starts ‘who done it’.
Tanisha Bhattacharya gave 3.5 of 5 stars. ‘Ikka keeps you guessing, the twists never feel forced.Editing could have been crispier but the final blow lets you overlook it’.
Once you start watching, you are hooked. May not be the best but the suspense makes you sit through it all.
Gripping. Not a 5. But a sure 4!!!
