It is a 2022 Chinese mystery crime film. Directed by Cui Rui & Liu Xiang. It stars Zhu Yilong, Ni Ni & Janice Man.
The film is adapted from Alexey Korenev’s 1990 Soviet comedy film ‘A trap for Lonely Man’ & French playwright Robert Thomas’ 1960 play ‘Trap for a Lonely man’. Thomas’s original French paly was going to be adapted by Alfred Hitchcock as ‘Trap for a Solitary Man’, but that film never came to frutition.
It tells the story of He Fei’s wife Li Muzi who disappeared mysteriously during the wedding anniversary trip. It is a film about a story of a shocking case. The film’s style has been described by some critics as ‘Hitchcockian’.
The film premiered in 25 December 2020 but was released theatrically in China on 22 June 2023.
The film won Movie channel M list annual focus movies in April 9, 2023. Weibo Movie night ( Most anticipated ) Movies of the year on June 11, 2023.
Also a huge hit at the box office with $486.1 million.
In a 1989 Bollywood starrer ‘Khoj’ had Rishi Kapoor & his wife Anita holidaying in Kathmandu, when his wife goes missing. Based on the British movie ‘Chase a crooked Shadow’ ( 1957) which was an inspiration for the Bengali Thriller ‘Sesh Anka’ & ‘One of My Wives is Missing’ (TV movie 1976 ).
The basic theme remaining same, the treatment is different every time.
