Pragyanand is from Tamilnadu, India. He won the World Youth Chess Championship in the year 2913. Two years later he created history by winning the Under-10 title. He became the youngest International Master of Chess in 2016.
He defeated Carlsen in the Air things Masters rapid chess tournament in Feb. 2023. The five time world champion Magnus Carlsen, who is a big name in the world of chess. Only the former world champion Vishwanathan Anand & GM Harikrishna have done such a feat.
What is noteworthy is that Anand spoke highly of Pragyanand & promised to help him out when needed. Vishy has a whole world of experience & is a very humble person. Standing with one of our countrymen , he knows it goes a long way in boosting the moral.
New to success & at a tender age , Pragyanand needs all his guidance. The sudden glory can corrupt a sportsman. Vishy has come a long way. He is aware of all the pitfalls. He is the rarest among his fellow players who had a long inning, so far.
He broke all the records & came out of all situations with flying colors! No wonder he cares for the new kid!!
We are fortunate to have a new Anand among us. Hopefully, more Anands will follow.
