Nazia..the enigma, the nightingale

Nazia Hassan literally ruled the music industry in the 80s. Her pop songs were the rage. ‘Aap jaisa koi…’ from ‘Qurbani’ was more popular than the star singing it on screen! It broke all the records & the 15 year old was flooded with offers.

In an interview with Tabassum she admitted that there were also film offers but I wish to finish schooling. One of her professors had glowing praises for her. She chose law, but she could have done well in anything she chose.

With her brother Zoheb Hassan, she made albums like Disco Deewane, Music 89, Boom boom, etc. Over 65 million records were sold worldwide.

She married in her 30s to Ishtiaq Baig. She has a son Arez Hassan. She developed lung cancer & succumbed to it. At the age of 35, the Queen of pop died in London.RIP.

Her songs are still as fresh as they were in the 80s. “Disco Deewane..” in the ‘Student of the year’ is the proof. It blends well with all the new faces & music of the recent times.
