It is based on ‘Sullivan ‘s Crossing’ by Robyn Carr.
The story follows neurosurgeon Maggie Sullivan, who finds herself in legal trouble &returns to her hometown in rural Nova Scotia to reconnect with her estrangled father, Sully.
Filming locations include Shubie Park in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Agricola Street in North End, Halifax, Fisherman ‘s cove in Eastern Passage, with coastal locations as Lawrence town Beach & Peggy’s cove.
Rotten Tomatoes gave a 60 % approval rating for season 1.
In season 4 of the series will premier on April 20, 2026.
I have watched only one episode so I have yet to thaw to the neurosurgeon. Yet if I compare the two heroines of Robyn Carr, Mel from ‘Virgin River’ wins hands down. Both are from the medical field, both have to leave their pasts behind & come down to a small place.
Mel chooses Virgin river away from LA, Maggie is coming back to her hometown. Her father stays there. She has been away for too long but she is coming back to her roots! Everyone knows everyone.
Maggie also has a good friend in Sydney. Along with Frank & Gina. She can talk to Sully & get it down & over. I know talking is tough. But possibilities are unlimited. Running away is not an option.
A good start, for sure.
