It is a British crime thriller TV series. Created by Scott Frank & Chandni Lakhani. It is based on the book series ‘Department Q’ by Danish writer Jussi Adler -Olsen. Starring Matthew Goode, Kelly Macdonald, Chloe Pirrie, Alexej Manvelov.
Released on 29 May 2025 on Netflix. It was renewed for a second season in August 2025.
Filming took place at the City Chambers in Edinburgh. Scenes from Jennings property were filmed at Burntisland Docks in Fife. Police station scenes featured Argyle House.
Top detective Carl Morck is returning to police work. Recently involved in an ambush, he is injured. Required to attend therapy sessions for the after effects. His commander, Moira Jacobson is offered a substantial budget for a new unsolved crimes unit. She assigns Morck as the sole officer in charge.
A Syrian former police man Akram Salim joins him. They start with the case of the missing Crown Office solicitor Merritt Lingard. Joined by his former colleague & friend James hardy, paralysed now. Recovering in a hospital.
Also the young constable Rose Dickson joins him.
It ranked seventh on Netflix in the US.
