Facing rejection, actress & playback singer of Bollywood, Sulakshana Pandit never married. The Indian actress was born on 12 July 1954 ( in Raigarh , MP) & died on 6 November 2025( Mumbai, Maharashtra).
She was the leading lady in movies around 1970s & worked with Sanjeev Kumar, Jeetendra, Rajesh Khanna, Vinod Khanna & Shatrughan Sinha.
She started singing from the age of nine. She began her cinematic journey from ‘Uljhan’ 1975 opposite Sanjeev Kumar. He rejected her proposal after he had been rejected by Hema Malini, with whom he shared a close relationship.
Despite her promising career, she gradually withdrew from the spotlight. Reports say that her emotional world shattered after Sanjeev Kumar ‘s untimely demise. Sanjeev Kumar died on 6 Nov. 1985 at the age of 47 in Mumbai.
Sulakshana Pandit died on the same day i.e . 6 Nov 2025 at the age of 71 in Mumbai. Do we call it a coincidence ?
Her love for her co star shone through her performance. Watch ‘Uljhan’ again. In a scene, he says ‘Hume shwaal kaha, shwaal wali chahiye!’ her eyes sparkle like diamonds. The chemistry between the leads made that film memorable.
I wonder what if he had reconsidered. What if he had ignored his illness, he knew of his heart condition & the threat of a heart attack, taken a chance . We lost a thorough gentleman in him.
Their lives would have been different. In her last few years, she hardly made any public appearances. A beautiful actress with a golden voice.
I have this regret of losing such beautiful souls . I hate writing about them.
