Let ‘s sing every song

Says Suanshu Khurana in her nice article in The Indian Express. Remembering the late singer Zubeen Garg as he was. An adulation across the border!

Band members of Pakistani band Khudgarz performed Sayeed Quadri ‘s famous song ‘Ya Ali’ originally sung by Zubeen Garg, at their concert in Karachi, the audience sang to every word with a disarming honesty. Were he alive, he would have joined them.

Performed as an ode to the 52 year old Assamese musician who died in Singapore on 19 September 2025.He died while swimming in the sea without a life jacket.

He was regarded as one of the influential musicians in Assam. He was a multi instrumentalist & played many instruments.

Over a career spanning 33 years, he has recorded over 40, 000+ songs.

His sister, Jongki Borthakur, an actress & singer passed away in 2002 in a car accident. Losing two of his children like this must have been shocking for his father.

An outspoken, bold man he was often caught in controversies. An artist, he lives for ever!
