Set in fictional period within Joseon period, the drama has the competition among the consorts, their sons & the race to excel. No wonder then that the women of today found it relevant.
The competition to survive & shine brightly was the same. The King & the court expected them to do the best as Princes.
Elimination was instant & efficient. It has the Queen Dowager & the present Queen at logger heads. She also has many rivals.
Till we get used the first episode ends. I had started with the drama but did not continue. After watching ‘Signal’ 2016, ‘Hyena’ 2020, ( another drama I failed to complete) & ‘Dr. Romantic ‘ 2017 a cameo, which made me her fan. Kim Hye soo has the ability to shine through.
In the title role she carries the show singlehandedly. Queen Dowager has made the four Princes to kneel in the pouring rain. But the Queen uses her power to rescue her sons. We have just a glimpse of her ability but for the next 15 episodes she will have a fight for her survival & her sons.
The Crown Prince is sick & may not survive but she needs to stand on her own & avoid getting ousted by one of her rivals!
