Kaoru Hana wa Rin to Saku is a Japanese Manga series . Written & illustrated by Saka Mikami. An anime TV series adaption by Clover Works premiered in July 2025.
Chidori Public High School & Kikyo Private Academy Girls’s High School are next to each other with contrasting reputations. Chidori enrolls lower class delinquent boys & Kikyo is a prestigious academy enrolling honorable, noble girls. The schools have a long standing rivalry.
Chidori student Rintaro Tsumugi attends to customer Kaoruko Waguri at his family’s bakery . He is surprised that Kaoruko sees his kindness. He later saves her from harassment by delinquents. Rintaro discovers to his shock that Kaoruko attends Kikyo Private Academy.
They aspire to learn about each other as their friendship grows.

Curtains are drawn in the Girls’ school. When Kaoruko opens the curtain & looks at Rintaro, who has arrived earlier & is alone in his class. He gets scared & pulls down the curtain closed.
Tiny details are so cute. People have been scared of Rintaro’s blond look right from his childhood. So it ‘s refreshing when she looks up to him!
His stare that scary away many, she finds endearing. Also she is not the rich, arrogant kind. She is in the prestigious school by merit. She comes from a middle class family.
Their interactions are so funny. It is a first experience for them both. The scenes & the dialogues are well written.
Enjoying ‘The Apothecary Diaries’ I had a few suggestions. Without much blood shed & gore, I would go for such soft nicely written stories. Two more , ‘Flower of Versailles ‘ & ‘Why Raeliana Ended up at the Duke ‘s Mansion’ I had already seen.
I watched two, three more to go. Today.
