The property owner is her ex-boyfriend. There was some misunderstanding before he left town. They tried to keep up with the other’s where about on social media. But never re-connected.
In the cold weather he knows it is an uphill task, so he is waiting for her to fail. She being a good hearted person wants to preserve the institution for all the memories it holds.
This clash of new over old is nothing new. The treatment is. Like in a novel we already know the happy ending & yet we keep on turning the pages till the end!
