They say our love has ended, like putting a period at the end. That’s why farewell is in past tense. ‘We Broke Up’. But actually , a farewell could be present progressive. As if you are frightened by the nearing farewell, while looking at the face of your lover. Maybe, we are in the middle of loving, even during those painful moments.
Bae Sang Hee is a successful writer/ novelist. But he hasn’t written for last 5 years. Jung Yi Na is editor. They have been together for 8 years but he doesn’t believe in marriage. Writer Kim gets an award. He is young & inspired by Writer Bae’s book.
When the time comes for returning the advance or writing in 3 months, things get tough. Right from the title we know the end is not happy & yet we expect them to tide over somehow. They sell the apartment & separate.
An Year later she finds he has written a new book. She is living in the countryside , reading what she could due to work. Now, she also comes back & resumes work. Sometimes, love, affection is not enough to get along.
She admits, ‘I am slow. I needed 8 years to understand him. I don’t know just how many to forget him’. Their progress was in going their own way.
