It is a 2023 Indian Hindi language film. Directed by Nandita Roy, Shiboprosad Mukherji. It stars Paresh Rawal, Neena Kulkarni, Amruta Subhash, Manoj Joshi with others.
7 year old Yaman Shastry who binds the family together lives with his grand parents. His parents visit him on weekends. Things get twisted when Yaman’s father gets a chance to settle in the US but Guruji is unwilling to let Yaman go. It leads to a family legal battle.
The critics believe it is a heartfelt exploration of modern parenting challenges. Parents are away from the child due to work. In the late evenings they are tired to look after their child. Instead of quality time they spend more money on the child.
The grand parents have lot of time. Also they love to be with their ‘apple of their eye’ But when the fine line of adoration is crossed, the relationship sours. Dragging it to the court is the worst scenario.
Today when couples are not thinking of children, that one child becomes the center of the family. Naturally, over pampering happens & the child knows or learns to manipulate the adults.
The title reminds of the movie ‘Kramer Vs Kramer’ where the child is dragged in a legal battle of the parents. The father gains the custody of the child. The mother is a working woman & busier than the father. Also she realizes that the child is happier with the father.
I liked the film. But always wondered why the child was made to choose between the parents? He wants them both & they also need him. What is the point of having a kid & then battling out in court??
This film is sensitive. Makes us think of the current situation around us.
