The South Korean series of 2023 is an ongoing series. Only two episodes have been aired so far.The viewership stands at 3.58 % & 4.310% Nationwide to 4.166 % to 4.836% Seoul ranking at 4th & 3rd.
Starring Ra Mi ran, Lee Do hyun, Ahn Eun jin. It is a story of a single mother & her son. She drives him to study & become a prosecutor. He becomes a cold hearted, driven person. At the end of the first episode when he says, ‘We have a problem’ to Chairman Song, it is a deja vu for us.
His father was wrongly killed for not budging & giving up his pig sty when the Olympic torch was to march close by. He was killed by Chairman Song. Now, his son works for the same man & does the dirty work for him.
The performances are strong & the story believable. People of the village from the village head to the neighbours all add to the dynamics. Kim Won hae as the village head, unforgettable from ‘Strong woman…..,’ has done a good job.Kang Mal geum as Mi joo’s mother is superb. From ‘Thirty-nine’ & ‘Divorce Attorney Shin’ she has diverse roles.
Seo Yi sook from latest Kim Hee- ae’s drama ‘Queenmaker’ she couldn’t have been different. When she is with her son in the first scene she manages to look like a young mother. Later, when he locks up his friends, she knows why her son did it. She scolds him for not doing the job properly.
But the surprising element is Choi Moo sung. ‘Uncontrollably Fond’, ‘Hospital Playlist’, ‘Reply 1988’ he is quite different. The softy is gone & we see only a ruthless businessman. Similar to his role in ‘Stranger’ where he had a rotten streak.
The main story is to begin but the ground work is superb. Lee Do hyun never disappoints. He is the same genuine, hardworking person.
