The editorial in Indian Express brought goosebumps with it’s headline. The embassy of South Korea in New Delhi danced it’s way into the Indian hearts to the beats of the hit song ‘Naatu, naatu’ from RRR.
Some dancers dressed in traditional Korean hanbok, the embassy team Led by the Ambassador Chang Jae-bok looked dazzling. They executed the song’s popular hook step, performing the turbo-charged ‘dance-off’ in the end.
The reaction of Indians to the video shared on Embassy’s social media accounts has been warm & welcoming- even the Prime minister chimed in describing the dance as a ‘lively & adorable team effort’.
Effect of the South Korean wave- known as Hallyu- has been hit all over the world for at least 20 years now. From K pop to K dramas, Indians have been enthralled for long. For all the joy that South Korean pop culture has given to this country, it is nice to give some of it back with a little nattu, nattu.
‘Mr Queen’ has the King & Queen disguising & entering the palace in a wooden cart full of vegetables. It was fruits & sweets when King Shivaji & his son escaped from Agra. They had been under close watch in a house by Emperor Aurangzeb. The pages in history just led open the risk, danger & uncertainty…that is life!
Rather than looking at the west we have so much to share & care for. Our rich heritage.
