It is a 2016 South Korean television series. It stars Lee Jong suk & Han Hyo joo. It centres on the clash between ‘two worlds’, the real world & the alternate universe inside a webtoon, from which the title was taken.
Right from the first scene where Kang Cheol is aiming for a gold medal at the Olympics, it is gripping. Then his family gets wiped out. The main suspect is himself. His shooting rifle has his fingerprints!
As he prepares to jump in the river below, he is stuck by a thought. ‘I will find the real murderer & then die!’ He starts from scratch & becomes a name. A CEO no less. He is mortally wounded when he meets a medical resident. She saves his life.
Blood shed & a link to the other world, a parallel world. Same factors are in ‘King: the eternal Monarch’. He has been holding an ID & trying to find her. Here, wounded, in the hospital the CEO is looking at a business card & wants to meet her.
‘Extraordinary you’ also has the characters coming out of a webtoon. She is just an ‘extra’. Later becoming ‘extraordinary’! With Rawoon & Kim Hye yoon it was a delight!!
In the hospital, Oh Yeon joo has Kang Ki young as her colleague, working under Dr Park. She is getting an upper hand because of her father, a cartoonist. Dr Park wishes to have some spoilers before the next one is out. She goes to see how her father is doing & gets entangled in the other world!
I like this premise. It gives full rein to imagination & absolute fantastic things happen then. Looking forward to the main characters trying to stride both the worlds!
