Browsing through some clips on Youtube I came across the conversation between Sung Duk seon & her husband, Choi Taek. The adults played by Lee Mi yeon & Kim Joo hyuk who assayed the roles are phenomenal. Mannerisms & getting into the character was excellent.
Losing Kim Joo hyuk to a freak car accident in october was a great loss. He was one of those under rated actors with a lot of potential. Many attended his funeral. But the loss is irreperable.
Going through the clip again, it hints at Teak’s smoking habit & his denial at getting a candy everyday! And yet we failed to recognise them. Probably because we get involved in the plot so much!!!
Having lived through 80s & 90s we have seen it all. The country may be different but the atmosphere everywhere was the same. The middle class thrived on companionship, brotherhood, sharing & having little money with them.
More than the other two this one touches you more because of the story so common. Later they do well in life but their parents have toiled hard for them! Getting money or settling in is the gift for them.
Any list of the most popular dramas has ‘Reply 1988’ in it. Rightly so.
