Chocolate

A 2019 South Korean drama with Ha Ji-won in the lead. After the marathon series, ‘Empress Ki’ I am watching her after a long time. She is the same. The series could have been named ‘Cha-young’ or Dr Kang, The Hospital or Hospice but chocolate. He likes chocolate so the title.

Into the 5th episode & besides the chocolaty name everything is so tough. Her mother had dreamt of her being an actress which she doesn’t. She becomes a Chef. She had met with Lee Kang who planned to become a Chef, her first-love.

Kang abandoned his dream to become a Doctor to compete with his elder cousin. We will forget that he looks older than his cousin. He is more in the OT than in the Kitchen & she is in the Kitchen!

Their paths cross with her recognising him but she doesn’t tell him & things get on becoming complicated.

A truck rams into a restaurant where Vincenzo & Mr Hong are sitting. Killing Mr Hong & putting Vincenzo in hospital. In ‘Chocolate’ a truck rams into their stationary car where both are sitting. Both are injured but Dr Kang operates on her in his injured state. Later he is operated by his cousin. The hematoma in his brain leads to tremors in his right operating hand.

The similarities are many. Vincenzo begins in Italy & Chocolate takes you to Greece. Both the locations are beautiful. Both the leading ladies are Cha-young! In “Vincenzo” both are lawyers & in ‘Chocolate’ both are Chefs.
