His mother a strict disciplinarian is able to get money from the restaurant she opened but lost touch with the upbringing of her only son. She opens another branch but her son in the prison is hurting. She is not evil, not the witch she proclaims but has neglected her duty for sure!
Krystal Jung as Kim Ji -ho is the hope of our protagonist. She is the daughter of the deceased coach & his inspiration,first love & only love! She was the beauty in “Bride of Habaek” & competed with Shin Se -kyung for nam Joo-hyuk’s affection. In ‘Heirs’ she was very protective towards her boyfriend & one who spoke her mind.’Legend of the blue sea’ saw her compete with Jun Ji-hyun for Lee min ho. Actually I felt very bad for her. She had everything going till suddenly Jun Ji -hyun appears. She is down with the swine flu & can’t meet him but in the future hope to see the situation corrected.
Jung Hae in as Captain Yoo has been labelled ‘Demon Captain’. But he is framed & he never killed anybody. His elder brother is trying for the retrial, but it is not going to be easy. The case has one outcome & that the brothers are closer than they were. The 12 year gap was glaring but now he says the ‘Thank you’ & ‘Sorry’ come naturally.
Why Park Ho San was awarded the best actor award is evident from his performance. He brings out the emotions so well. An ex con he gets ready to donate his liver to his only son. When they meet in the lift he can’t even acknowledge being the dad, his son hates him so for abandoning his family- mother & son. Married six times doesn’t give happiness. Marrying a rich lady also brings in sorrow.
All the characters are nicely fleshed out & the sub-plots don’t interfere with the current proceedings. That is the speciality of the director, Shin Won-ho!
