It’s okay to not be okay

I hadn’t thought much about the title but then really how many times do we admit that I am not okay. In the society ,if you are ill go to the doctor but if you are experiencing certain signs do we freely visit the psychologist?, it is a taboo! Like visiting your dentist or a gynac it should be okay! We need counselling. The joint family had many people & personalities but today one has to face alone. The covid has opened the Pandora’s box & things that we never thought of are coming out!

There is a criticism against some scenes in this show. She enters when he is changing his shirt! Ok. Firstly it cannot be called outrageous because many shows have shirtless people & if he had objections he could have shouted, pushed her away. In the show they know each other from childhood. It is a matter of pride to acknowledge or not. The touching or appreciating the abs was her way of provoking rage which he has a habit of concealing.

Focussing on one scene & blowing it out of proportion is absurd. If it is a promotional gimmick I have nothing to say. The story says it is about healing. How two individuals help each other & the old wounds heal. Give them time, have patience.

It focuses on the children’s tales.. fairy tales! The scary ones are chosen here. But the bedtime stories need a serious over haul. Cinderella waiting for the prince. Why? why can;t she save herself? Snow white, doing well in the seven dwarfs & lived happily ever after! No, she had to eat that apple & the prince had to come for the rescue. Should ‘Damsels in distress’hammered in the minds of small children why can’t we teach them to be self reliant, self sufficient?

The boy who fed on night mares or the second episode with the red dancing shoes don’t have the feel good ring. The author is derailed but what about the readers who have made her wealthy & so popular? Isn’t that funny? Those stories are not normal & how are they in a children’s book is a greater mystery.

Third is ‘The sleeping Witch’here the window pane has’Welcome’ written & the voice tells the story of the sleeping beauty. But a mother compelling her child to have no contact with the people outside the castle is too much. It explains why she has such a complex personality. Her ‘Wants’ cannot be fulfilled by the money she has. He remains sky high with his morals, penniless!

Episode five; the zombie kid who has a lot of baggage (Don’t we all have!) The child with no feelings. The kid is hid by his mother & fed secretly but then she can’t bring in food so she gives her limbs for him to survive. Finally only the torso remains & on hugging her he realises she is so warm.

It is not only the child in them but the hurting memories that come to the fore. What I liked about the show are the dialogues .The words are simple, direct & effective. You need to mull over them. You may not catch it at the first go.

Episode five; Rapunzel & the cursed castle. The scene where he handpicks flowers to give her. She takes the bouquet from the grill of the main gate & throws it down, crushing it with her feet. She had been waiting but as she rushes out she meets someone in the hall & she reacts differently.

Episode six; ‘Bluebird’s secret’ ..a dracula was feared for his blue beard. He marries a poor woman who is forbidden from entering the basement. It has corpses of women who disobeyed his order.

The stories are blended with the current situation in the life of the leads. But these stories need improvement how long are we going to be locked in the creepy, cold, crumbling castles? The stories need to be freshly written for the future generations!
