Ravi Ranjan Kumar, a film critic & writer gave a 5/5rating, due to acting, cinematography & story of this film.
I remember the newspapers with the ‘Shah Bano’ case headlines but never really knew all the details. The film simply puts the facts & lets us watch as the events unfold.
I have been watching Yami since ‘Vicky Doner’ & following her films. I love how comfortable she is on screen. Her smiles, laughs & sobs are all real. Not reel.
She has emergered out of her model image & transformed into a wonderful actress. With every film she brings out quality performances & betters herself somehow.
I cried with her betrayal & her fight for justice. ‘Mera Haq’ how apt. The children are theirs. Yet she fights alone for the maintenance. He is happy with his second wife. Happy? The other woman also agrees ‘Bano is right!’
Bano wins the case. A fighter & a winner. The paltry sum is nothing but the fight for justice is important. A trendsetter.
