Satish Shah in the Hindi film ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’ 1983 as D ‘Mello is unmistakable. I called him by that name till I got used to his real one, ‘Satish Shah’. A Mumbaikar by birth, he died in Mumbai aged 74, on 25 th October 2025.
He was born Satish Ravilal Shah on 25 th June 1951 in Mumbai. He studied in Xavier ‘s college & later joined FTII.
The 1984 sitcom ‘Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi’ had 60 episodes. He played 55 different characters in 55 episodes. Zee Tv ‘Filmy Chakkar’ 1995 he played the character of Prakash in 50 episodes. In 1997 he played the lead role in ‘Ghar Jamai’for 80 episodes along with the seriel ‘All The Best’ with Swaroop Sampat for 109 episodes.
He starred in 2004 TV show ‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai’ as Indravadhan Sarabhai. He paired opposite Ratna Pathak Shah.
In 1985 he was nominated for ‘Best Performance in a comic role’ for The Film fare awards but he won in 2005 at the Indian Television Academy Awards for ‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai’. In 2006 & 2017 he won again for ‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai’ ‘Best actor – Web series’.
After Satish Kaushik another Satish made an untimely exit.
