In Marathi it means ‘ O my beloved..’ & she was. A household name with her character as Varsha in ‘Pavitra Rishta’. I am talking about the Indian actress we lost on 31 August 2025.
A couple of years she had been fighting with cancer. But she lost. Or rather we lost a talented actor on TV & screen, Hindi & Marathi.
At the age of 38, when life was just looking up. She married her fellow actor & friend Shantanu Moghe in 2012. No children.
Active from 2005 till date, 2025! ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hai’ the long running Hindi serial of Balaji Telefilms had Priya as Jyoti Malhotra. This soap ran 2011 to 2014 with 644 episodes. Seventh most watched TV show in India.
Starting from ‘Ya Sukhano Ya’ 2005 -2008 with 855 episodes. Along with several awards the show won one for ‘Adhikari Family’ ! The last will be ‘Tu Bhetashi Navyane’ 2024 as Ragini.
In ‘Pavitra Rishta’ 2009 we had eyes for the lead pair Ankita Lokhande & Sushant Singh Rajput. It went on for 4 seasons & 1,424 episodes. In 2021, Shaheer Sheikh took over as Manav.
Priya Marathe as Varsha , Archana ‘s younger sister ,from 2009 to 2013. Later the story moved on to Manav Archana ‘s children.
She was slim, fit & good in negative roles too. Her eyes were her asset. When angry she could easily throw a look enough to kill a person!
What a loss! May her soul rest in peace.
