Ashi Hi Jamva Jamvi (2025)

It is an Indian marathi language rom-com drama film. Written & directed by Lokesh Gupte. It stars Ashok Saraf & Vandana Gupte. Along with Omkar Kulkarni, Tanishka Vishe.

The story showcases how friendship & love can blossom at any age.

Released on 10 April, 2025. Rated at 7.6.

It marks debut production venture of Rahul Shantaram, grandson of the legendary filmmaker, V. Shantaram. It features actress Chaitrali Gupte , wife of director Lokesh Gupte, making her first appearance on screen while working under his direction.

The stalwarts Ashok Saraf & Vandana Gupte are effortlessly endearing. They always make an impact. What lacked in the story was a punch.

As the family agrees to go ahead with their marriage, it was nice. The resistance should have been emphasized more. After meeting for the last five years, finally he manages to propose after three years, when they go to Kashmir with their group.

Gulmarg saw him proposing on a knee, but she ran away. Of course said yes later. Convincing the families was a task. It should ‘ve been difficult. They take their grand children on a trip to Goa. The children instantly become suspicious of the coincidences.

I wonder which grandchildren will agree to go on a trip with their grand parents ? They should but I find it highly unlikely. Taking them into confidence should have been at home or walking in a park . Creating a suitable environment, yes!

Marriages happen, but we know they cannot be forever. So when actually a person loses his partner he has a long way to go alone. Finding a partner to share is not a bad idea. Only it is new & not very acceptable in the society.

Films have been doing it but in life some issues are unspoken & so tough to deal with!

There was another Marathi film ‘Goad Gupit'(2006) where the grandchildren decide to find themselves a new grandmother. Dinkarrao Joshi is approaching seventy but prefers to live alone in his bungalow in Pune. His children are well settled.

It stars Dilip Prabhavalkar & Reema Lagoo. It is a lovely film.

It’s nice to have films that leave a mark.
