Sleep…. the most under-rated phenomenon in our lives ! With age they say we don’t need those eight hours, who says ? I know I am extremely irritable if I find I have missed those ten minutes of sleep.
‘I love sleep. My life has the tendency to fall apart, when I am awake. You Know ? ……Says Ernest Hemingway ! I agree whole heartedly. I respect those who work in shifts. How do they manage their sleep pattern ??
Actors on stage also can go on. I heard once Girish Oak says he can manage a nap anytime. Late shows & then late dinner. Back to Mumbai from any city they happen to be. We common people watch the play & come home to sleep.
I am in awe of actor Hugh Grant , a 64 old (?) man napping at the Wimbledon. Among all the celebrities seated beside him, he served up an unexpected ace.
The perpetually sleep deprived discovered a leading man, not of fiction, but of rest. Did I just love it ! The actor is an immensely lovable person & now agreeing to what I have always loved, just loved it.
Blame it on the sun -dappled ambience, the strawberries & cream, the frustration of Flavio’s unforced errors against Novak on Center court or simply the crushing weight of being an old man in the third act of a very public life ? As the Indian Express says.
Do you think anyone would care if you slept while watching a match at the Wimbledons ? Or just anywhere , just because you were sleepy ?
The internet of course had a field day . Isn ‘t it normal for a human body to rest when needed ? When hungry eat, when sleepy , sleep. I believe in this principle. Why would one starve if the body demands ? For having a zero figure???
What when the baby gets up & you have duties, or when suddenly the rains soak the grain you have put out to dry ?? Doesn ‘t your body need to gear up ? Now, which gear will depend on your body !
At that time you can have no excuses, like sleep deprivation or even hunger! We have a golden rule of good food, rest & recreation. But alas, we have lost it.
The simple pleasures of life have not remained simple. We have lost the simplicity all together to modernity. Should n’t it be moderation, instead ?
