In 1936, Natsumi , the third daughter of four daughters of the Sekiya family gets married to Takimasa Ebata, an officer in the imperial navy. Her father decides & within a week the marriage takes place.
She has never been in a romantic relationship & never met Takimasa before. For his wedding, he is unable to attend due to his naval training. Wedding is held with his picture.
She cannot hide her embarrassment at the way their marriage begins. After his training is over, she meets him for the first time. She is uncomfortable because he doesn’t express what he thinks or feels.
She supports her & works hard with housework. As time goes by, she notices his kindness &gradually opens up to him.

Did I have shades of ‘My Happy Marriage ‘, I did. Miyo also gets married to Kudo Kiyoka by arranged marriage. Here also she marries Takimasa because her father said so.
Do you believe a modern girl would marry any one who she has never met, because her father told her ??? I don’t believe in going back but marriages then were for life!
Today I would n’ t say the girls don’t know. they are extremely knowledgeable & able to navigate any situation, but… the relationships have changed!
