Rated at 7.5 sometimes more, it blends Di’s romance perfectly with the case he is investigating.
Right from the first episode we get a taste of his deductive skills.
First he confronts fires , then the huge waves…. the storm! When he gets appointed by the Empress & moves to Penglai as the Magistrate, he comes across the gold being smuggled, the people are in front of him. But no evidence.
The ship he is sailing gets attacked by bandits & then a slew of mysteries open.
He gets introduced to Cao An, a talented singer. She is in search of a masked man who saved her when she was younger.
Magistrate Di is thinking of asking her to accompany him when he leaves for another place, Langfan. But his work is done by his assistants & Mr Hong, who cares for him.
En route they come across a sandstorm. Reaching the town, he finds that the Magistrate office has been burned down. It is a heap of ashes. With Cao An accompanying them, they stay in the Red Pavilion opposite the office.
The kind, considerate, wealthy Mr Li is murdered in the pavilion where he is staying as a guest. But he has been there for several days.
The team visit his old father but are unable to break the news about their son.
Waiting for any complaints for an entire day nobody approaches them.
