The struggles in the forbidden city, the wits Wei Yingluo shows are remarkable. She is in the Changchun Palace . The Empress & the emperor’s other consorts are in a battle of power.
The fourth Prince is born with jaundice & Consort Gao is about to bury the lady & her new born alive when Yingluo intervenes. Her presence of mind saves their lives. She is able to justify her stand.
I cannot help but wish that the Imperial Guard Fuca was the lead. I know she is going to rise to become the Emperor’s favourite consort but given a chance I would change their places.
Like the sequel the Fucas are jovial, good looking & intelligent. Having all the spoilers I still watch it with awe.
In a couple or so years it will be 10 years old but the subject remains evergreen. Building canals, the rivers in spate, the Yellow river & the rivers flowing to the south… haven’t I heard it in the recent ‘The Prisoner of Beauty”???
The Generals with the help of the Governor get a large project to execute. Gao is fearless & able to have a large following. Consort Gao enjoys the perks.
The cast is wonderful. Choice is excellent. That makes it all enjoyable.
