It is a Chinese TV series. Directed by Hui Kai Dong. Screenwriter Zhou Mo. Starring Rain Wang, Wang Yi Zhe, Wang Yu Wei, Xu Xiao Nuo, Wu Jin Yan, Nie Yuan
With only 6 episodes. It starts off strong with the Princess refusing to marry the Prince Dorji. Later is helped by Fu Kang An, who has an ulterior motive.
Number of episodes are less to give full justice to the characters. The last two episodes are wasted on the Princess learning of Fu Kang An’s schemes & her inner trauma.
With fuller footage the story could have been better. The Princess Shiwan, her rival has only one expression& duty, to torment her sister.
Both becoming pawns of Fu Kang An was too much. He looks good & the Prince Dorji stuffy. No wonder she refuses Dorji again & again.
Not as clever as her mother, she is victim to the palace politics. Everyone envies her status. Pampered by the Queen Dowager & developing a rude, arrogant personality.
Rated at 5.8.
With the problem with the plot, also Wu Jin Yan looks younger than her daughter. “Everyone thinks I am different than my Mother. But they are wrong’ Princess Zhao Hua muses. But when it comes to act, she is firm & unflinching.
Generally the spin-off are no good. Because we go in with a lot of expectations & the show cannot give us more.
Recent example is of the South Korean drama, ‘Hospital Playlist’. Season 1 (2020)ended within the top 10 of the highest rated Korean dramas in cable history. Season 2 (2021) the first episode recorded a perfect 10 % viewership setting a record of the highest premiere ratings in the network history.
The spin off ‘Resident Playbook’ 2025 due to various reasons got delayed. From a modest 3.6% it rose to 8.142% for it’s final 16th episode. But the love from the viewers was missing.
