It is a Chinese TV series. Written by Zhou Mo. Directed by Hui Kaidong, Wen Deguang. Starring Wu Jinyan, Charmaine Sheh, Qin Lan, Nie Yuan, Xu Kai, Tan Zhuo.
It recounts the struggles of a palace maid in the court of the Qianlong Emperor. It was created by Yu Zheng with the original screenplay written by Zhou Mo. It was later developed into a novel by Xiao Lianmao.
The viewership had reached 7.474% & in the re-run it peaked till 6.545%.
It became very popular worldwide. A spin off titled ‘Yanxi Palace : Princess Adventures” was released on Netflix on 31 December, 2019.
Owing to it’s success, there has been an increased number of visitors to the Palace Museum in Beijing.
