Watching two of her shows back to back, ‘The Double ‘2024 & ‘Kill Me, Love Me’ made me compare her lead heroes.
‘The Double” has Wang Xing yue as Xiao Heng. He is 23 years old . Tall, slender & younger than her. His chiseled features make him look stern. He carries off his role in style. “
‘Kill Me, Love Me’ has Liu Xueyi as Murong Jinghe. He is 34 years old. Third Prince of Dayan & General of Weibei army.
In both the shows she is a pawn. Later because both men fall for her, she ceases to be that. ‘The Double’ has her husband burying her alive & ‘Kill Me, Love Me’ has her losing her parents to a fire tragedy.
She comes across a strong woman with a mind of her own. In ‘Kill Me, Love Me’ he has a better arc. From an arrogant Prince to a heart broken lover. He has done full justice to his role.
Younger but more serious in ‘The Double’ Duke Su, a General , close friend, advisor to the Emperor Hong Xiao. He can do anything! He is unable to check the Eldest Princess but can protect his pawn. Later as he develops feelings , he remains the same.
Finally goes out to war but returns back in the end. She is waiting on the hill top beside the tree blooming with flowers.
In ‘Kill Me, Love Me’ she is poisoned & dies before him. He ages & waits for the day of reckoning, beside the tree full of red fruits. He does not ascend the throne . After the death of his elder brother, the Crown Prince he is happy to spend his days in his beloved’ s hometown.
The expenditure on ‘Kill Me, Love Me’ is more than the other show. The costumes, jewelry & the sets are all very lavish.
Story is good & we wait till the end. I liked them both.
