The drama is based on ‘Tangeum : Swallowing gold’ by Jang Da hye, the series follows how Jae yi searches & uncover the truth behind Hong Rang ‘s disappearance the man claiming to be him.
After Hong Rang’s disappearance the family adopts a boy named Mu Jin ( Jung Ga Ram) hoping he will fill the void left by their son. Things take a strange turn when a mysterious man ( Lee Jae Wook ) appears claiming to be the long lost Hong Rang.
Jae Yi remains skeptical. Not the loss of memories but something she feels is off. When he exclaimed, ‘who will forget a sister like you?’ to himself, it opens up two possibilities. Either is Hong Rang or he is not.
With him we keep on guessing. So when she falls for him, it gets a bit complicated. Also Mu Jin hates him because the imposter has her heart! The drama is mysterious but this turn makes it a bit awkward.
Of course none of them are related yet it gets unsettling. When the couple elopes, their destiny is decided. Also the killings & gore at a next level. I stopped counting how many he killed with his sword!
Both the leads show great constraint. Acting is good but for the flaw in the script. Gold? where was it ? still to be dug out!
Kim Jae Wook in another good role. His Grand Prince is broody, moody & mercurial. The dark mood of the show befits him. I kept comparing him with his other roles, ‘Her Private Life & ‘Crazy Love’. The reason why I gave a miss to his ‘Voice’ !!
When it ends it ties all the loose ends well. Thank you for 11 episodes. But by then we are at our limit!
