Jhimma 2 (2023)

It is an Indian Marathi language drama film. Directed by Hemant Dhome. It is the second installment of the Jhimma series. Starring Suhas Joshi, Nirmiti Sawant, Siddharth Chandekar, Kshitee Jog, Suchitra Bandekar, Sayali Sanjeev, Shivani Surve , Rinku Rajguru.

Continuing the story of the last film, it is a reunion of a group of women exploring friendships & celebrating the 75th birthday of Indumati (Joshi) in a trip to London.

It grossed over Rs 14 crores ( US $ 1.7 million). That year’s third highest grossing Marathi film.

Kalpesh Kubal of the ‘Times of India’ gave it 3/5 stars. ‘It is a story of emotions that also shows a mirror to the viewers , presenting a side of their reality & making them think about the things in life that matter’.

Tanvi Lad of “Film Companion’ gave a positive review , ‘it stands out among most female centric movies because it’s powerful storytelling doesn’t come across as a lecture of feminism’. She says it has humour & ‘serves a veritable buffet of feelings’ & praised the soundtrack writing.

The women of various ages bonding over far away from home. Their friendship stands the test of time. A spouse loss or a uterus removal everything is discussed & taken care of. After the loss, don’t dwell on it, move on.

Meeta is not ready for a new partner but her daughter is. She believes nobody can take her father’s place but her mother needs someone when she is gone for further studies. Her mother rejecting Aankush & later shaking hand & apologizing. Now, she is ready to share her space with someone.

That thought is most important. The gift of the wheel chair was meant for Indu to move when tired or moving effortlessly. First she rejects it, then realizes the thought behind it. Moving in the chair with a glass of wine in hand…

An adorable end.
