It is an Indian Hindi language heist action thriller film. Directed by Kookie Gulati & Robbie Grewal. It stars Saif Ali Khan, Jaideep Ahlawat, Nikita Dutta & Kunal Kapoor.
Jewel Thief Rehan Roy travels the world & steals expensive treasures. Hot on his heels is the Indian Secret Service Officer Vikram Patel. Rehan is hiding in Budapest. His brother Avicomes to him. His clinic was opened by Indian Art Collector Rajan Aulakh prompts Rehan to travel to India to negotiate with Rajan.
Rajan asks him to steal Prince Gamnu’s touring African Ruby ‘Red Sun’ & live with him while planning the operation. He meets Rajan’s wife, Farah, who is afraid of Rajan. Rehan vows to save her from Rajan’s clutches.
It is a high octane battle of wits & wills. But sometimes the gory details get to you. The opening scene was a downer. We can always switch to a western flick! We don’t need a Saif Ali for it.
It premiered on Netflix on 25 April, 2025. It received negative reviews for the critics.
‘Jewel Thief’ a 1967 Hindi film with Ashok Kumar, Dev Anand & Vyjayantimala. A box office hit. It had garnered Rs 3.5 Crores. The music & songs are evergreen.
A sequel titled ‘Return of Jewel Thief’ was released in 1996. Only Ashok Kumar & Dev Anand were seen in the original roles.
