It is an Indian Telugu language action drama film. Written & directed by Koratala Siva. It stars N. T. Rama Rao Jr in dual roles with Saif Ali Khan, Janhvi Kapoor, Prakash Raj, Srikanth & Shine Tom Chacko.
It is the first part of a planned duology & marks the Telugu cinema debut of Kapoor. It follows Devara, Chieftain of a coastal village , who feuds with his counterpart Bhaira over arms smuggling through the Red Sea.
Released on 27 September 2024. Made on a budget of Rs 200-300 crore, it garnered est. Rs 380 -521 crore. It is the third highest -grossing Telugu film of 2024.
Filming took place in Hyderabad, Shamshabad, Vishkhapatnam, Goa & Thailand. It received mixed reviews from the critics.
Rotten Tomatoes gave it 5.7/10. ‘It is a gripping action drama that offers an entertaining cinematic experience. Jr NTR delivers a stellar performance in two distinct roles. While Saif Ali Khan shines as the vengeful antagonist.
Though predictable at times, the scenic cinematography keeps you watching. Grand show on a large scale. Janhvi does not have much to do. Looks stunning.
Devara Part 2 will be shot in 2026. the film will focus on Devara’ s family.
