The 101st Proposal

Based on the ‘Beauty & the Beast’ loosely, it brings out the best from the actors. I was just appreciating the raw emotions & simple camerawork. Then as the series came to episode 9 & 10, it had the ‘moments’!

Unaware I needed buckets. It touches you to the core. The fashion statement in the 90s was the same all over. The stories gripping.

Mr Hoshino is not so disappointed, but we are. When she starts falling for his boss, Mr Fijii, who resembles her dead fiance. Hoshino frequents the Piano bar, but later uses his frustration for a night job!

When he says, ‘How can I hate you when I love you so much!’ He is happy that he had been engaged to her, albeit for a small period! We are not.

We understand her helplessness but cannot forget how much he has done for her. He wants her to be happy!

Preparing for the bar exam, so late in his life to prove himself. learning piano , using bonus money to buy tickets for the horse race.. how much can a human body endure???

His unwavering will to win her is what grips you hard!!!

Atsuko Asano, the protagonist, later in life rose as an icon, no doubt. She is stunning & is sincere at what she does. Tetsuya Takeda is a veteran actor & best known for writing & performing theme songs. The two pairs of sisters & brothers bring joys, tears & everything in between to the drama.

Yosuke Eguchi as Junpei , younger brother to the lead. Brother everyone will wish for! His chemistry with Kaoru’s younger sister is perfect. Ritsuka Tanaka as Chie has immense love for her sister but is also aware of how much she is loved by Junpei’s brother. Also the story ends with the leads without pairing off the younger siblings!! It is just hinted & left at it. Kudos.

Riki Takeuchi as Naoto is a handsome actor. As violinist he has a huge fan following. But he girl he likes is being taken away from him. But he is brave enough to give a heads up to Hoshino that she is seeing another man.

Hatsunori Haseqawa as Mr Fujii looks like a Hollywood actor of 90s. He is drawn to her immediately. She likes him for his resemblance to her fiance.

It does get complicated at a point but the solution works out. Without anybody getting hurt.

Old is gold.
