Made on a budget of Rs 80 crores it garnered Rs 9 .17 – 10 crores. It received mixed to negative reviews from the critics, leading to a box office failure.

Ajay & Diana had a thing going. They could have explored it more. The mature pair could have been the central attraction with the other couple complimenting them.
Rasha is Raveena Tandon & Anil Thadani’s daughter. She was preparing for her 12th std board exams while also preparing for her Bollywood debut in the film ‘Azaad’.
Aaman Devgn is Ajay’s nephew. Ajay’s sister ,Neelam Devgn Gandhi has two sons. Aaman’s elder brother Danish Gandhi is a director.
In 1955, ‘Azaad’ was made by S M Sriramulu Naidu. It was a remake of his own Tamil film. Starring Dilip Kumar & Meena Kumari. Music composed by C Ramachandran with gems like ‘Na bole na bole’, ‘Kitna Haseen hai mausam’, ‘Aplam chapalam’
