Zinia Bandopadhyay from ‘India Today’ called it an honest attempt at looking at the Godhra tragedy & what happened to the Sabarmati Express on the fateful day .
Sukanya Verma compared it with films like Parzania & Firaaq which she felt sensitively attempted to depict the trauma caused by the tragedy.
There is another 2024 Bollywood film about the Godhra train burning, ‘Accident or Conspiracy Godhra’.
Vikrant Massey disclosed he had received threats related to his involvement in the project, which addresses the Godhra train burning incident. Despite the threats he continued & completed the project.
Back from his runaway success with ’12th Fail’ Massey’s next film was highly anticipated. But due to the delays it did not as well.
The film is intense, emotional roller coaster. I had decided not to go for it. I just could n’t imagine so many people burnt alive in a bogie. Also I was scared of the live action. But as I followed Massey, it was rather became my journey to reach the truth.
With it’s flaws it comes across an honest attempt to reveal the truth & the journalist’s point of view while reporting. How are some people involved in sweeping the issue under the carpet! But for how long???
Without becoming a docu drama, it keeps the movie thrilling & entertaining ( if I may use the word). As a film it is a must see!
