Trans. Foursome. A Marathi drama .Written by Prsashant Dalvi. Directed by Chandraakant Kulkarni. It stars Rohini Hattangadi, Mukta Barve, Kadaambari Kadam, Parna Pethe.
It is a journey of four women who have shaken off the bondage of a patriarchal society & are moving along the path of realization of their personalities.
It proved to be a big hit & created history in the decade 1990-2000. It is considered a milestone in Marathi Theatre.
The play portrays the story of a mother & her three daughters, making very unusual decisions in their lives according to their independent personalities. The decisions are personal but represent emotions of women in general.
It throws new light on man woman relationships. After 31 years, the drama is coming on stage with a totally fresh cast & technicians. It is produced by Jigisha.
Earlier the roles were assayed by Deepa Shriram, Vandana Gupte, Asawari Joshi & Pratiksha Lonkar. They remain itched in our memories. Watching the new cast, I couldn’t help but compare it with the earlier cast.
It is not a depressing play – there is humor, courage , hope . But still it remains ahead of times. It has gained some ground but some more is to be done.
Unconditional gender equality is still a dream.
