Trans. Labyrinth is an Indian Hindi language comedy horror film. Directed by Anees Bazmee. Written by Aakash Kaushik. It stars Kartik Aaryan, Vidya Balan, Madhuri Dixit & Triptii Dimri.
It serves as the third installment of the eponymous franchise after Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007) & Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (2022). It is set in Kolkatta.
In 1824, the Maharaja of Rakhtghat’s daughter, Manjulika, is seen doing kathak, which comes under the notice of the king. He orders to drag her out & burns her alive on a pyre, as dancing without the permission of the king was not allowed. Manjulika returns as a vengeful spirit & kills both the king & the man who burnt her.
200 years later, in 2024, Ruhaan Randhawa alias Rooh Baba enjoys deceiving people by claiming to be a ghostbuster. The brother-in-law of the current Maharaja of Rakhtghat blackmails him to accompany him with his daughter Meera to Rakhtghat.
Due to Manjulika’ s spirit in the palace, the current royal family is living in a barn. Also they are living in poverty. How does he chase out the spirit?
It was released on 1 November 2024. Made on a budget of Rs 150 crores, it garnered est. Rs 417. 51 crores. It is the second highest grossing Hindi film & fifth highest grossing Indian film of 2024.
It received mixed reviews from critics.
The song ‘Mere Dholna’ a jugalbandi between Madhuri & Vidya is the highlight of the film.
As usual the original is the best.
