Amidst the snowstorm of Love

I am nearing the end of this series. I love watching K dramas more because of their stories & the actors. Handling by their directors. More than the story ,how the director makes you believe in the characters is more fascinating.

I have liked watching this series because of believable characters, story, leads, many factors. The OST with ‘Love & Shine’, many words I may not know but the score is haunting.

I came on the scene where the girl has missed her period, we are watching his face as he watches her. Now, earlier, the touch.. mere hand or finger touching was a big thing. This story has many scenes with them together, hugging or kissing. He has yet to meet her parents. I mean, yes they are adults but in the societal norms in Asia, some things just don’t work like this!

Her cousin, is a solid support for them. But we have cases where the family rejects the boy & /or has him eliminated. Marathi film ‘Sairat’ 2016 or Hindi film ‘ Dhadak’ 2018.

We have come a long way from the time when women were not allowed to address their husbands by their name. There is a popular incident retold. Lokamanya Tilak was away. His English friend came visiting. Tilak’s wife said’ His shoes are not there’ He again inquired if Tilak was at home. She said ‘His pagdi is also missing.’ & ‘His umbrella is also not at it’s place!’

Leaving the exaggeration, we can say she never said ‘Tilak is not at home. “From the parents deciding your life partner we have come a long way, but many a times maturity, experience matters. Maybe the girls were more tolerant, adjustable or the boys less demanding, the divorce rate was zero.

With high expectations & fast life, everything is on a fast track. The friend circle is also shifting. Lifelong friends are passé. Sometimes I wonder how we came to this!

Coming back to the series, will I like my own daughter in a relationship for two & half years? Without my knowledge, crossing the line ? The boy I know is arrogant & fought with the umpires, quit the game.

As a parent I would think twice for sure. An ace at his craft, liked by my daughter but how far will this relationship go?

I am presently watching them & know their point of view but the society has certain rules. Our well being depends on it.

If we have developed, evolved. have we instilled values in our kids? We assume they know what is right! Do they ?

I am experiencing a blizzard of sorts.
