Miss Shetty, a five star chef , is a feminist living in London. She wants to be single forever. Mr Polishetty , an engineer & a part time stand- up comedian , from Hyderabad, Telangana, India wants to be in a committed relationship. The two appear to be in different stages of life but somehow connect.
She is 30 & he is 25. We appreciate that they are trying to bring something novel. Their characters needed more depth. After her mother’s death, she feels lonely. She wants a family. A child of her own but no marriage. Hence artificial insemination & a healthy donor.
It was released on 7 September 2023. It received positive reviews from the critics. Made on a budget of Rs 20 crores, it garnered est. Rs 50 crores.
Janaki of India Today gave the film 3.5/5 & wrote ‘It is a feel good romantic drama that hits all the right notes. Sometimes simplicity is all you need when you watch a film. And ‘Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty’ offers that & more’.
Neeshita Nyayapati of The Times of India gave the film 2.5/5 stars & wrote , ‘It is a good watch if you can’t get enough of sweet, simple romcoms. But it needed more emotional heft to leave a mark’.
That is a problem with all the films in this genX. With technique & technology the emotions have taken a back seat & the movies become glossy, good looking but hollow.
