It is a Chinese film. Prequel Hong Kong was ‘My Wife is 18. Screen writer Wu Meng Zhang. Starring Ekin Cheng, Charlene Choi, Zhang Xin Yi, Jeremy Tsui, Joyce Cheng, Lo Hoi Pang.
Ten years ago, Cheung Sub Sam & Yo Yo Ma got married to fulfil a promise by their parents. Fell in love for real, regardless of their huge age gap. Now, Sam is experiencing midlife crisis ,while Yo Yo begins to think that her husband is dull, not aggressive enough & lacks planning.
If I go by the standard set by Korean ‘My Sassy Girl’ it is nowhere near. The sassy girl has you from the first frame. No one has reached her level!
The husband is not ‘sassy’ at all. Neither is she. After ten years she has lost her zing. Her self esteem is below sea level.
As one of the fans commented, he decides to separate so easily. Ironically, he is teaching students, ‘Love is …?’ It is closer to life . Yet we expected better. Greatest feelings like true love & fidelity.
If the first had us so firmly rooted, this needed to be half as much. This is a common problem with the sequels. We expect more. They are good but cannot rise up like the first!
A bit of a let down.
