Freedom struggle & independence is a theme of many dramas. ‘The Chicago Typewriter’, ‘Mr Sunshine’ just to name a few. She finds herself in a novel situation. Alone. She learns to read & write. Knows now that the man had asked her not to follow him. All the while she was thinking it was his address on the slip of paper!
More than the story later what caught my attention was her name. ‘Deok sun ! ‘ the sweet, spirited girl from the iconic drama ‘Reply 1988’ The name is branded on my mind. being new to K dramas I watched every frame carefully. Going through the subs word by word.
It helped me gain knowledge about the culture & how all Asians are alike! The man was smitten by a Japanese girl. But she was fixated on the boy from the time when her father had promised to give her away in marriage. Times are changing. So are people but marrying off daughters at the right age remains in the psyche.
Short, sweet.
