Rising With the Wind

It is a 2023 Chinese TV series. Directed by Zhao Yi Long. It is adapted from the novel of the same name by Wei Zai. It stars Gong Jun & Zhong Chuxi in the lead.

It premiered on October 30, 2023. Country of origin is China. Language is Mandarin. It has 40 episodes. Genre is contemporary, urban workplace romance.

Xu Si is an investment professional from Hong Kong who moves back to China. He meets Jiang Hu who is the only daughter of the chairman of a national clothing conglomerate.

For days , Xu Si is trying to meet the chairman but in vain. Once, his daughter comes to see him. She mistakes Xu Si as her father’s new assistant & gives him a task. ‘A set of Hamburger. No Ice.’

Curious, Xu Si decides to pursue the daughter . Her father’s company goes bankrupt & she is forced to confront challenges from Xu Si. He keeps challenging her marketing approach.

Gong Jun has an award for his role. Well deserved. His role is also better written. I kept on wondering why he looked familiar or was it his name ‘Gong’ that rang a bell? But no, I have seen him in ‘Word of Honour’ with Zhang Zhehan. A period drama with 36 episodes.

I was watching Zhong Chuxi for the first time. She is an excellent actor. But her role needed more than what they have shown. After winning his trust & knowing he will be there for her forever, she accuses him publicly. It was a major let down. I expected more.

If he is the strong wind as depicted, one has to rise with it & not try to down it! That was a drift I perceived.

Repenting & building bridges is just a cover up. What if he had left really & never turned back. It was a possibility. A proud man has his limits. Men generally have , naturally cultivated. Never heard a NO & facing a humiliation un necessarily is a no no.

The story is engaging & keeps you hooked.
