All These Years

It is a 2023 Chinese movie. It is adapted from the web novel ‘So Many Years’ by Ba Yue Chang An. It stars Sun Qian & Zhang Xin Cheng as leads.

The story follows a small town girl, Chen Jian Xia & the rebellious yet kind , Li Ran. The girl has grown up in a patriarchal environment. At Zhenhua, she meets school delinquent Li Ran. He becomes the only light in her life.

He is supportive. Coming from a rich family, he is never short of money. But his family life is a different story.

When she goes back to the school in her place she realizes, that she has to work hard. She has to get into the bigger, better school again. Her nagging mother very often compares her with her brother, making her work harder. She has to support the family, in future.

She goes back to Li Ran’s school again. A changed person. She studies hard & he is there to accompany her. Now, she is unafraid of the bullies or the rich girls mocking her.

She gets a chance to go for a job to Singapore. She hates to leave him, so doesn’t tell him. He is hurt. You are getting such a great opportunity yet you left me out! Is thsi how you think of me ???

So years later when they meet, bitter words welcome her. She is looking for a car in the showroom. She wants to take a trial. As she sits in the driver’s seat, Li Ran walks to her & asks if she can afford an expensive car ??

Later she leaves again for Singapore but ponders over her condition. She had his unconditional support always. But is staying away, her way of running away?

She comes back to find him at the airport. Smiling. He is fine with any decision she makes. He is ready to wait!

When did he fall for her? When they met again? when he gifted her with a recorder & knew the other girl will find it? Or when she gave him a tissue to wipe his forehead without knowing him??

He said, I have never stopped loving you, all these years! So there.
