It is a 2023 Indian Hindi language satirical romantic comedy drama film. It is produced by Kangana Ranaut. Written & directed by Sai Kabir. It stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui & Avneet Kaur in lead roles.
The film is a tale of two eccentric, starry eyed characters, who want to make it big in Bollywood. Ranaut described the film as a heartfelt ode to Mumbai, the city of dreams.
This film was initially titled as ‘Divine Lovers’ with Irrfan Khan & Kangana Ranaut as the main leads in 2016. The director fell sick for 3-4 years. Back to working on the script, Irrfan passed away in April 2020. Kangana also was not in the same frame of mind. Hence they brought in a new cast.
It is Kangana ‘s maiden production after launching her production house in 2020.
Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 4.3 of 10. The critics have given it mixed reviews.
Recalling the 1977 movie by Asrani ‘Chala Murari Hero banne’ with Bindiya Goswami also depicted the plight, struggles an outsider faces who comes to the dream city. It fit the bill. Today it may look too simplistic.
