It is a 2023 Indian Hindi language romantic comedy family drama. Directed by Karan Johar & written by Ishita Moitra, Shashank Khaitan & Sumit Roy. The film stars Ranveer Singh & Alia Bhatt.
A couple with contrasting personalities , decide to live with each other’s families for three months before getting married. Given that one family is conservative Punjabi & the other liberal Bengali , the stark contrast is evident right from the moment they meet.
I was put off by the title itself. Also not really getting to know the story, suddenly yesterday I watched it. I liked it. A bit over the board, sleek, a true Karan Johar movie. But the leads bring out the emotions so well!
I am not their fan but still I have watched a lot of their work & loved it. The songs , scenes are perfect. The stalwarts like Dharmendra, Jaya Bhaduri, Shabana Azmi steal the show. They have little screen time but they glow!
At the GQ Men of the year awards the Director of the year was won by Karan Johar. At the River to River Florence Indian Film Festival the film won the Best Feature film. At the 69th Film fare Awards the film had 20 nominations. It won four awards including Best Actress for Alia Bhatt, Best supporting Actress for Shabana Azmi, Best Dialogue Ishita Moitra & Best Choreograaphy for Ganesh Acharya for ‘What Jhumka ?’
