It is a 2018 South Korean romance film. It stars So Ji sub, Son Ye jin. It is directed by Lee Jang hoon. The film is a remake of the 2004 Japanese film of the same name, which is based on a novel by Takuji Ichikawa.
Soo ah, before she passed on makes an unbelievable promise to her husband , Woo jin, to return one year later at the start of the rainy season. Miraculously, she keeps the promise & re-appears before her husband & son, but she has no memory.
Their union is short lived, because it turns out that Soo ah has to leave her family at the end of the rainy season.
The young Ji ho, the couple’s son is played by Kim Ji hwan. He has shown such depth to his role. Astonishing. The adult son is Park Seo joon. He has started dating.
So Ji sub as Jung Woo jin is superb. Also the young actor Lee Yoo jin is great. His hesitation, fumble are all relatable. ‘Oh My Venus’ has him as a personal trainer & when he meets Shin Min a, he embarks on a journey of his development. He lets her lead, again.
Son Ye jin shines. She carries the film on her slender shoulders. She looks so tiny & vulnerable at their first date, I almost thought if it was another actor! Later, as she becomes a mother, her transformation is perfect.
I have always seen her leading her hero. It may be ‘CLOY’ or “Something in the Rain’ or ‘Personal Taste’ where she is the house owner.
‘A Moment to Remember’ has her as a fashion designer, a CEO’s daughter. She meets a foreman, whom she likes & marries. Her early onset of Alzheimer. She makes the decisions.
